The mission of Willimantic Public Art (WPA) is to Create, Promote, and Preserve public art for the enjoyment of Willimantic and surrounding areas now and for generations to come.

Public art contains multitudes.

While it has the ability to uphold and assert existing social hierarchies and inequities, public art can also serve as a medium for healing and community transformation.

In Willimantic, we have an opportunity to champion the latter—to reshape the narrative around art-making and viewing, to make our public spaces more engaging, and to strengthen connections with our diverse local community of working artists.
